Hit The Road Jack
Mid April, and after three winter rounds of Snow and rain, we were expecting something a little different…
It didn’t happen, more rain for the start of the Summer Series..
Like the weather, another consistent event was Jack Goldsmith starting from pole position. While we’re talking about consistency; Paul Gasson again secured 2nd on the grid.
Jonathan Seekings headed the 2nd row alongside Luke West and Andy Burton rounding out the top 5.
Another textbook start from Goldsmith resulted in gapping the pack at the start, Paul Gasson wasn’t as lucky; he held his position but Luke West was already past Jonathan and challenging Paul on lap 1.
The Donny Bolt and Adam Loverage battle was where the action was on the early stages, no inch given by either driver, Tommy Valentine had the best seats in the house sitting behind.
With Paul Gasson and Adam West throwing handbags Jack slowly but surely started disappearing.
Luke was the surprise package as he kept the pressure on “Mr Lakeside” Paul. The pressure generated a crack and Luke slipped through into 2nd.
No waves from Paul this time, which is a shame. I do like it when Paul spreads the love and waves at anyone that wants to look.
Luke shook the hornets’ nest and Paul wasn’t prepared to let 2nd go without an almighty fight.
After an impressive start and quick laps Steve Thomas was now past David Underwood and in pursuit of Andy Burton who couldn’t keep a grip on his 5th place starting position.
Another battle hotting up was Jonathan Seekings and Oliver Underwood, Jonathan’s 4th place was under serious threat and soon the battle for 4th joined the battle for 2nd!
Luke West’s defensive masterclass was him the leader of the train with drivers from 2nd to 5th all separated by a second.
6th placed Adam Loverage wasn’t far behind after finally pulling away from Donny, we’re all set for a grand stand finish, well, all apart from Jack Goldsmith who was so far ahead he was racing in a different postcode.
Williams Woods started 12th but was now giving Tommy Valentine a lesson in overtaking on his way to 8th.
Jack Goldsmith strolled across the line to collect a win and then the long wait began………
Luke West was the driver of the day as he controlled the pressure from behind to collect 2nd leaving Paul Gasson to fill 3rd spot.
Oliver Underwood saved his best till last grabbing 4th when it matters most leaving 5th for the always present Jonathan Seekings.
Another win for Jack Goldsmith; who can stop him?
Beat Jack in the next race, win the A final and win round 2 and I’ll pay for your place in round 3.
